Boys Varsity Football · Inaugural Red-White Game a Huge Success

With 6 seconds left, down by 7, Senior Red Team Quarterback Darrell Stafford rolled to his right, and threw a Hail Mary into the end zone for Senior Receiver Aaron Henderson. On this day, however, success fell just short and into the hands of White Team Jr Defensive Back D’Marko Price, whose interception of Stafford sealed a 14-7 victory for the white team.

The Inaugural Red & White inter-squad scrimmage held at Bryan field on August 10 was deemed a “huge success” by the SEHS coaching staff and players. While the Red Team fell short on the score board, the competition gave coaches a solid forum to evaluate players, as well as a chance for parents to get a sneak peak into what they can expect this season from the Knights.

Notable performers: SR Defensive End Booker Webb was extremely disruptive on the defensive front, with 1 sack and several TFL. JR Receivers Doedy Deh-Patterson and Ra’Shad Wilson showed excellent burst and vision, each gaining exceptional yardage once the ball was in their hands. The previously mentioned Price contributed on offense with a key 3rd Down reception that kept the drive moving, along with 2 INT’s. Finally, SO Quarterback DeQuanta Tenner showed flashes moving the ball through the air, but was especially effective on the ground.

SEHS Coaching staff would like to thank everyone who was able to make it out to the game. The turnout was much more than we could have expected on short notice. In particular, we would like to thank Coach Daryl Kearney for his work calling the game from the press box, and Principal Jessica Bassett for addressing those in attendance at halftime.

Now, the Knights shift their focus to the Van Horn Falcons, who will come to Bryan Field on Saturday, August 19th at 1:00 pm. Van Horn looks to avenge a 36-0 loss from last season, while the Knights look to open the season on a strong note. The players and coaches look forward to your continued support!
